Supporting Employers

Gardner Hall Assessment Team works with people in the workplace and their employers to ensure they can be as effective and independent as possible. We help to:
 
  • Identify strategies to overcome barriers to entry and inclusion in employment for people with disabilities or difficulties. 
  • Assist employers to retain employees whose disability or difficulty has suddenly onset or where the job itself has changed and adjustments are required.
  • Improve organisational understanding of the needs of staff or clients who have disabilities or difficulties.
  • Promote and support fair recruitment opportunities and create an inclusive working environment.
  • Meet the legal requirements of current legislation including the Disability Discrimination Act.
  • Identify sources of funding for the purchase of equipment and resources.
  • Undertake access audits.
  • Provide disability awareness training. 

A Solution-focused Assessment & Training Service

Our assessments respond to the needs of the individual and their employer and include:
 
  • Job evaluation – practical solutions to overcome barriers and identify risk to facilitate entry to and retention of employment of people with disabilities and difficulties
  • Assessment of work equipment, environment, methods and practices to ensure the workplace is accessible, inclusive and compliant with legislation.
  • Advice, guidance and training on the most up to date specialist equipment solutions to facilitate effective working and independence for all in the workplace.
  • Training and support for individuals and teams working with colleagues who have additional needs. 
  • Training and ongoing support in the use of specialist technologies.
  • Training and support for ICT staff to provide them with the skills they need to provide ongoing support to users of specialist technologies.
  • Speedy intervention if sudden issues arise which impact on inclusion or retention of an employee with a disability or difficulty. 

Supporting individuals – people already in work or seeking employment

Helping individuals maximise their effectiveness and independence in the workplace.
 
The Gardner Hall Assessment Team will work with you to:
  • Enhance opportunities for successful inclusion in employment through effectiveness and independence.
  • Introduce you to the latest specialist technologies.
  • Provide training to ensure you are able to use specialist technologies confidently and effectively.
  • Identify strategies to ensure you are as effective as you can be in the workplace.
  • Help you develop your existing strengths and skills and build confidence to gain new or additional expertise.
  • Identify support requirements including mobility, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Undertake screening or diagnostic assessments for specific learning difficulties.
  • Support you with interviews including specialist equipment loan or liaison with the potential employer regarding interview tasks.
  • Identify reasonable adjustments and undertake risk assessments to help ensure your entry to and continued inclusion in the workplace.
  • Liaise with Government departments and specialist agencies which provide funding and support.
