Welcome

Welcome to The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC), the United Kingdom’s leading College of Further Education and Training for people aged 16+ who are blind or partially sighted.

Established in 1872 the College has been successfully working in the field of visual impairment for over 140 years.

Increasingly, students with sight loss from all over the world are coming to RNC as a way of preparing for University, the world of work and independent living.

In 2005 the College was awarded the prestigious Beacon status for excellence.  Only 8 colleges in the whole of the United Kingdom have received this award from the Government’s Department of Education and Skills.

The UK Government Watchdog OFSTED (Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills) described the residential, support and care provided by the College as “Outstanding” (2008/2009 and 2010/11)

RNC has many high profile supporters including His Royal Highness Prince Charles, who is the Patron of the College.

We are very proud of our success as a specialist residential provider of teaching, training and supported employment for learners with visual impairment and look forward to welcoming you to the Royal National College for the Blind.
