Personalised Learning at RNC


You often hear colleges saying that they are ‘student-centred’ but at RNC we not only support this, we actually deliver


Flexible approach - excellent support


The student is central to everything RNC does, so it follows that we offer flexible, individualised learning. This flexibility allows us to support your studies in such a way that matches your individual and funding circumstances, this could be:


• On campus, through a college based course
• A combination of on campus and home study
• In the workplace, alongside your job or voluntary work
• By using computer based e-learning
• A short course or a full academic/vocational programme
• Part or full time
• On a residential or daily attendance basis
• A full qualification or units from a range of qualifications
• One specific subject or units from a range of subject areas
• At one of our partner mainstream colleges i.e. the local Sixth Form, Art, Technical or Agricultural/Land Based College, whilst still benefiting from all the RNC social activities, facilities and support services.

Increased choice and convenience


Our flexible approach encourages inclusion and opens up pathways into learning and training for people with a visual impairment:
• School leavers from mainstream or specialist schools
• Individuals preparing for the workplace
• Individuals already in employment but needing new skills to retain employment or to facilitate a career change
• People who have been visually impaired from birth or those with more recent sight loss.

When you apply for a course, we will assess your individual needs. We will work with you to identify your preferred learning style and the appropriate way for you to access learning, as well as the start date, duration, level of study, content and qualification. Basically, we will develop a truly individualised programme which will help you achieve your personal and career goals.
