MULTI ACTIVITY ADVENTURE WEEK – 3rd – 7th August
Thrills, challenges and adventures – all rolled into one fantastic holiday!
Leave RNC with loads more friends, interests and feeling more confident - and counting the days until the next RNC adventure.
Test your skills across lots of different activities so you'll never be bored! Activities on land, on the water, some you have always wanted to try and some you have never heard of before! You will get to try loads of different activities from outdoor activities including quad biking, rock climbing to creative arts such as art and design, music technology, radio broadcasting, dance and drama or for the less energetic computer games and website design.
Aimed at young people aged 13-17 who are visually impaired and their sighted friends and family (of a similar age).
£450 per person - Package includes:
- Breakfast, lunch, dinner and refreshments
- En suite accommodation
- Specialist input and support
- 24 hour 'parental' care
- On campus medical provision through RNC's nursing team
After a day of activity, the fun and games continue ... Enjoy a full programme of evening leisure activities and social events including - pool, karaoke, quizzes and access to all RNC facilities - sports pitch, sauna, Jacuzzi, gym, internet café...

BRAILLE FOR TOUCH READERS AND SIGHTED USERS – 3rd – 7th August
This programme is ideal for both fully sighted people (e.g. parents, teaching assistants, teachers etc) who work with people with sight loss and non-sighted people.
This summer school will help you develop your skills from scratch or enhance your existing skills focusing on braille reading and writing. Other aspects such as braille labelling and additional codes can be introduced.
This summer school can be a stand alone course or it can be the introduction to the BTEC Accredited Braille Award offered through RNC. You can study for either Grade 1 or 2 Braille via distance learning with support from RNC's "outstanding" Braille Team.
£400 per person - Package includes:
- Breakfast, lunch, dinner and refreshments

NEXT STEP – PREPARING FOR UNIVERSITY – 3rd – 7th August
Does your future involve moving onto university?
This specialist preparation programme will benefit you if you have some worries about life in Higher Education. We can help you develop the skills and confidence needed to settle in and get the most out of your time as an undergraduate.
Support is available with practicalities such as:
- Mobility- helping you develop skills to find your way round the campus independently and safely
- Daily Living Skills - those everyday chores we hate but are so central to you integrating into student life - ironing, washing, cooking, money management
- Study and enabling skills
- Using assistive technology
- Student life skills - communication skills and assertiveness.
- Chat to ex learners about their experiences of university life
We will prepare you for higher-level academic work, balancing your studies with other commitments, doing assessed work at degree level and experiencing the different types of university teaching.
