Mountbatten Brailler

Learning is fun with the Mountbatten Brailler!Woman using a Mountbatten BraillerChild using Mountbatten Brailler

It is now 201 years since Louis Braille was born, but the system he developed is now the major medium of literacy for blind people everywhere, and is adapted to nearly every language on earth, opening up the world of literacy and communication to millions.

Little could Louis Braille have known that what he created would be so well suited to development in our modern age. In fact, computers have created an explosion in the amount of Braille published and read, and this has increased the demand for Braillers around the world.

We are delighted to be able to offer the very latest Mountbatten Brailler for purchase from RNC - an electronic Braille writer, notetaker and embosser with multiple applications for integrating modern computer technology.

The complete Braille learning system

This is now considered the most complete Braille learning tool for students and their teachers, and has been designed to suit even the youngest students, to take them from pre-school through to secondary school and beyond. Those who've used it say its connectivity and software are brilliant in supporting flexible teaching and meeting educational needs.

What's so good about the Mountbatten Brailler?

  1. Beautifully simple, it can be used to develop understanding of Braille symbols and characters.
  2. Its ergonomic keyboard works for the small hands of very young children as well as older students and adult learners.
  3. An easy 'Correct and Erase' function makes it learning friendly, and encourages children to persist when learning to write.
  4. It comes with an audio response, so you can hear the commands you are entering.
  5. With the addition of a MIMic (also available from RNC), teacher supervision is simple. By connecting to a PC keyboard sighted teachers, colleagues, friends and family can also write in Braille. This offers an ideal way to support inclusion strategies in school and college.
  6. By connecting to a PC you can, of course, send files back and forward over the Internet.
  7. The Mountbatten Brailler offers Braile-to-print as well as print-to-Braille translation.
  8. It can be used as a graphics embosser - great for developing tactual skills.
  9. With the MB Pro (also available from RNC), a voice synthesizer enables file management and text editing.
  10. You can link music and Braille through the Mountbatten for Brailling music notes, editing music and more.
  11. Switch to 'fun' mode and play games with family and friends.
  12. IT skills are developed where the concepts of using files and editing documents are introduced at basic level, all in the context of learning Braille. The system also has clock and diary functions to encourage planning and time management too.
