Application Form Completion Guidance For Assistive Technology Users Only

Please read these instructions whilst completing the application form.

Confidential Monitoring sheet

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applications from people in every part of the community.

RNC is committed to promoting a diverse workforce and employs policies which eliminate unfair discrimination. Your answers to the questions in the Monitoring sheet will provide statistical information which we can use in order to ensure our policies are being properly implemented.

The information you provide will be held in strict confidence and will not affect your application. This form should be completed and returned with your application form, but will be detached before your application is considered.

We ask for your co-operation in completing this sheet.

Age

Please read through all the statements on age and indicate the one that best describes your age.

Disability

Definition of Disability: The Disability Discrimination Act defines a disability as a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on your ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.

Ethnicity

Please read through all the statements and indicate one that most nearly describes your ethnic origin.

Failure to comply with these requirements or receipt of unsatisfactory pre-employment checks may result in the withdrawal of the offer of appointment, or termination of your contract if you have already commenced your employment at the College.

Application Form

All information supplied in your application form will be treated as confidential.

Applicants are requested to complete the application clearly in black ink or typescript.

It is our policy to actively encourage applications from disabled people. We will interview all applicants with a disability who meet the essential criteria for the job vacancy. ("Disability" is defined on the last page of the application form.)

Personal Development

In the Personal Development section you should include any courses, professional membership, voluntary work or responsibilities you consider relevant, with outcomes where applicable.

Previous Employment

In the Previous Employment section positions should be listed in date order with the most recent first. You should account for any gaps in employment (subject to the provisions relating to disclosure under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974). School leavers and students should state any part-time or holiday jobs.

You should continue on a separate sheet if necessary to ensure that your full employment history is recorded.

Please note previous employers may be approached by the College to verify employment history. Successful applicants will be required to account for any gaps in employment history as part of their induction programme.

References

All appointments are subject to receipt of satisfactory references. Please givedetails of two people who we can approach for references, one of whom should be your present or most recent employer. Both referees will be contacted before interview unless otherwise requested. If you have just completed full-time education, the details of the Head/Principal and/or Tutor should be provided. If you have neither worked nor studied recently, please provide two independent character referees outside your family, and not normally RNC employees.

We may take up more than two references.

Medical

If an offer of employment is made you will be required to complete a medical questionnaire. You will be asked to send this direct to our occupational health who may recommend a medical assessment. All employment is subject to receipt of medical clearance satisfactory to RNC.

Criminal Record

You are not required at this stage to disclose any spent convictions; however, every successful applicant will be required to have an Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.

Please note that any job offer will be dependent upon a satisfactory outcome.

Additional Notes From Employment Information

Closing Date

The closing date will be stated in the advertisement. If you are completing the form online the deadline will normally be 9am on the closing date. If you are posting your entry, please ensure that you return your completed form before the closing date. Late applications will not normally be considered.

Interviews

Candidates will be short-listed from their application form. All those who are short-listed will be invited to attend an interview. If you do not receive a letter inviting you to attend an interview within 4 weeks of the closing date for the vacancy, please assume you have not been successful on this occasion. Short-listed applicants will receive written confirmation of the interview arrangements. RNC will pay reasonable expenses for candidates attending interview. Please enquire about this with HR prior to your interview.

Pre-employment checks

All appointments at RNC are subject to:

  • A CRB check (full details of what this means are included in the Guidance for Completion of the Disclosure application form)
  • a pre-employment health check (you will be required to complete a pre-employment medical questionnaire which you will return to RNC’s Occupational Health provider to determine whether or not you are medically fit to undertake the duties of the post. A subsequent medical examination may be necessary in certain cases)
  • the provision of a satisfactory explanation into any gaps in employment history
  • proof of qualifications
  • proof of eligibility to work in the UK
  • reference checks
