Trainee Teacher of ICT – part-time considered
Salary in the range £16,211 - £20,380 pro rata
RNC is seeking to appoint a Trainee Teacher to join its Skills For Life (ICT) team.
The successful candidate will be involved in the delivery of a range of accredited ICT programmes to blind and partially sighted learners using a range of assistive and adaptive technology. Candidates will be experienced users of ICT and pro-active in the field of e-learning. They will also be expected, and supported, to undertake the PTTLS and DTLLS teaching qualification during their first 2 years of employment.

Job title - Trainee Teacher of ICT
Directorate: Learning
Reporting to: E-learning Manager
Job purpose:
As a trainee teacher you will be supported by your line manager, the ICT team and a mentor to achieve the duties and responsibilities outlined below.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver appropriate schemes of work and lesson plans to meet the needs of the individual learner and the accreditation bodies. Currently we offer BTEC National for IT Practitioners (Award and Certificate) BTEC 1st for IT Practitioners, ECDL, CLAIT, Skills for Life and Functional Skills. You would be expected to gain a good understanding of the enabling technologies we use including, Jaws, Supernova, Windoweyes and Zoomtext.
2. Assess all learners on entry to ensure appropriate resources and support are in place and inform E-Learning Manager of requirements
3. Record and report on learner progress and achievement in line with the college recording and reviewing cycle
4. Set standards and monitor learner attendance, punctuality and retention and record this information including reporting any trends in issues to the E-Learning Manager
5. To support developments in all aspects of e-Learning and the RNC curriculum offer. This will include the development of an accessible VLE (Moodle) and the use of e-portfolios.
6. Communicate effectively with colleagues across college to ensure best practice for communication of relevant learner information.
7. Embed Literacy, Numeracy, ICT and Key Skills in all lessons as appropriate and related aspects of Every Person Matters to all curriculum areas as appropriate.
8. Take responsibility for self, learners and visitors in all aspects of Health & Safety and work in accordance with college policies and procedures to comply with regulations.
9. Contributes to all aspect of the RNC Quality Cycle and external bodies and strive to continuously improve standards of teaching and learning.
10. Adhere to allocated budgets and constraints as laid down by the Manager and Head of Learning.
11. Actively participate in CPD activities and staff development activities. You would be expected to follow the PTTLS and DTTLS course over a 2 year period to gain qualified teacher status and become a member of the professional body, Institute for Learning (IfL).
12. Contribute to an environment where all staff, visitors and learners conduct themselves in an acceptable way. To set an example of directly challenging any unacceptable behaviour on campus.

Continuing professional development:
RNC is committed to the development of its staff. The successful applicant will be required to take part in RNC’s programme of continuing professional development and will be encouraged to communicate and discuss their personal and team development needs with managers and colleagues.
