Applying to be a Volunteer
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at RNC, you may wish to first of all talk with our Volunteer Co-ordinator, Kay Mellish, to get an idea of the latest volunteer projects running. Please call Kay on 01432 265725 ext 2233 or email kay.mellish@rncb.ac.uk
We ask you to fill in a Volunteer Application form and return this to RNC.
You can either download this form here or ask for one to be posted to you. We also ask you to provide two referees and you will need to have an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.
What Happens Next?
When we have received your application form, Kay will contact you to discuss your areas of interest and to invite you to come and tour the College. Once your CRB and references have been obtained and are satisfactory, and if both parties are happy for volunteering to start, you will then be invited to attend an induction training course and will be provided with a Volunteer Handbook.
The induction training will cover learning how to offer sighted guide assistance and covers health and safety essentials. It is a good opportunity to meet with other volunteers, RNC staff and students, and you will be able to find out more about RNC and the roles available to volunteers.
